Lepak Landscapes: Life and Leisure in Singapore
What does ‘lepak’ mean to you? Dive into ‘Lepak Landscapes: Life and Leisure in Singapore’, a digital interactive exhibition at the Central Public Library as we explore iconic leisure spaces and re-imagine the ‘lepak’ lifestyle of Singapore.

Book Havens of Bras Basah: Curiocity
In addition to the main exhibition, ‘Book Havens’ is an immersive exhibition that explores the history of Bras Basah as a node for reading, publishing, book retail and learning. It uses Augmented Reality (AR) markers to recreate three different eras of Bras Basah, allowing users to interact with the bookstores that have since been lost to time or changed with time.

Join us on a guided tour to rediscover the places where connections, experiences, and cherished memories are woven.

Duration – 30 mins

Kampong Gelam Trail by Friends of the Museum (FOM) Singapore

For many of us, Kampong Gelam means a stroll along Arab Street, ‘the’ place to go to for high quality textiles and carpets. Or perhaps it’s the bars, street art and chilled vibe of Haji Lane (voted eighth ‘Coolest Street in the World’ in Time Out magazine for 2021) that lure us.

But Kampong Gelam has a fascinating and storied place in Singapore history. Did you know it was the home of Malay royalty in Singapore for 180 years? That it was a hub for the thousands of Haj pilgrims from across the region setting out for Mecca each year? Or that dozens of diamond cutters from Kalimantan worked their magic from row upon row of shophouses? Or even that Uncle Tan, the last street barber in Singapore, plied his trade for over 40 years, tucked away in one of the many laneways?

Join the tour, learn more about Kampong Gelam so you can facilitate your own visits of this cultural precinct at your next learning journey.
